老外說「put it there」,不是放那裡的意思(一)
Nick和客戶談了一個案子,談了好久,終於要成交了,他問客戶:
★ So, do we have a deal?
那麼,我們達成協議了?
客戶回答:Sure, put it there.
「Where?」,他心想,放在哪兒啊?該不會又要擱置了吧...!
1、Put it there.
(錯)放在那裡。
(對)一言為定。
別搞錯了,「put it there」是商務口語,有點老派,但還算常見,意思就是「一言為定、來握個手吧」,可以用來指「成交、和解」。
表達慶祝的時候,有時還會講兩次:
★ Put it there, Pal, put it there!
恭喜啊,兄弟!
★ $500?OK, it's a deal. Put it there!
五百塊,一言為定,成交!
2、I don't want to put you out.
(錯)我不想把你趕出去。
(對)我不想給你添麻煩。
Put someone out意思是讓人感到不方便,打擾到某人,是美國人常用的片語。
相當於I don't want to bother you./I don't want to cause you any inconvenience.
★ Would you be put out if we came tomorrow instead of today?
如果我們明天去而不是今天,會對您造成不便嗎?
